The Staff-Parish Relations Committee is the personnel committee of the church.  In regard to the pastor, this is the advisory group that relates to the District Superintendent regarding the pastor's appointment. With the lay staff, this is the group responsible for seeing that the church is adequately staffed for the work of the church, for developing job descriptions, interviewing, hiring and supervising all the staff positions. The procedures for the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee are outlined in the Discipline, paragraph 258.2. They serve as an advisory group to the District Superintendent, the pastor and staff members on a number of different matters. They are also responsible to help educate the congregation on the United Methodist appointment process and strengthen the congregation's understanding of and commitment to our denomination's procedures.
